John, fondest memory of a caring coleague!! Dear Catherine & family Not sure if my name came up in the family conversations when Dad was at home. My name is Deric, Deric Worthington. I was and still am holding on in the courier section at Brink’s, when I saw Dad it was usually when coming back from a trip, did not matter what mood I was in, John was always warm, cheerful and no matter what problems were happening, Dad was keeping the engine room running!! If I can remember correctly in 95 or 96 I was told that as courier work was slowing down I was to take over from Dad as he was due to retire. I will always remember the look and smile he had when he found out, that will clip your wings young man!! We did not have much of a handover, usual Brink’s one, two half days, the occasional, oh yes, do not forget too!! Over the years I saw Dad at one or two leaving drinks, last one I think when Wynne Berry retired. Have always followed Dad’s news via Ivor, his illness which he was facing with tremendous courage and only very recently seemed to be holding his line like only a good soldier would know how and your Dad, John, was a good soldier and a very caring person. He will be watching over you tomorrow and for ever more, continue to care for his wonderful family. If I remember correctly also, like a good Dad, was always there to take/pick up and make sure you were always safely home. Mrs White I regret very much not being able to be with you tomorrow. Please be assured that like many others we will be with you in deep thought and fondest memories of John. May you find the strength through your loving family to help you through this very difficult time, John will always be at your side. My very best wishes Deric
